This engagement ring is made out of platinum, diamond and two sorts of granite, one on each shoulder. One of the sorts of granite comes from the volcanic plug of Ailsa Craig, famous for being the only granite suitable for curling stones. This sticks out of the sea just where one of the couple grew up.  The other type of granite comes from a cliff that towered over the other during her childhood.
